A list of the Town's ongoing projects to benefit the community:

Community Share Shed

Interior and exterior photos of share shed with illustrated box of donated itemsWe’re excited to share that the Wilson’s Mills Community Share Shed has a new home! It is now located at the Phillip R. Wright Community Park (988 Powhatan Road) under the park shelter.

To provide easier access for our residents, the Share Shed will no longer be locked and will be available during normal park hours — 7 days a week, dawn to dusk (except when the park is closed for event setup).

The Share Shed continues to operate on an honor system — we simply ask that neighbors take only what they need and leave what they can. Town Hall staff will organize and check the shed once a month to ensure items are in good order and that food has not expired.

We hope this new location makes it even easier for our community to both give and receive support, helping more neighbors in need.

💙 Donations Welcome! You may bring items directly to the shed or drop them off at Town Hall (Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, please call in advance).

Suggested donation items include:
🥫 Canned goods (no dented cans, please)
🍲 Non-perishable and shelf-stable food items
🧻 Toiletries and paper products
🧥 Spring or summer clothing
📦 Other useful household necessities

Together, we can continue building a community where neighbors help neighbors. 🤝

Honoring the History of Wilson’s Mills

Old Wilson's Mills train depot with two men standing in frontThe Historical Preservation Project is well underway, and we’re excited to share that interviews, photographs, and records are actively being collected to celebrate and preserve the rich heritage of Wilson’s Mills. We’ve already connected with several founding families and long-standing residents to document their stories—stories that bring our town’s history to life in powerful and personal ways.

As we continue this ongoing effort, we’ll be adding new oral histories, photos, newspaper clippings, and other discoveries to this page and our social media channels—so check back often!

Our goal is to build a lasting archive that honors the town’s journey from its roots in 1868 through incorporation in 1996, and beyond. This growing collection will help safeguard the unique history of Wilson’s Mills, promote community pride, and may even lead to the creation of a dedicated Historical Society in the future.

We invite all citizens—past and present—to be a part of this meaningful work as we celebrate where we’ve been and help shape where we’re going.
