Mayor & Council
The Town of Wilson's Mills, NC is located in Johnston County and was incorporated in 1996. The Town operates under a Council-Manager form of government with five (5) members who are elected for four-year staggered terms. The qualified voters of the entire Town elect the Mayor. Regular meetings of the Town Council are held on the 3rd Monday of each month at 6:30pm.

Mayor Hardy has proudly called Wilson’s Mills home since 2010 and brings a strong commitment to public service, community involvement, and the town’s continued growth. Originally from Princeton, North Carolina, he graduated from Richard B. Harrison High School in Selma. His background includes three years of service in the United States Army, service with three police departments, and a career as a truck driver before retiring in 2023.
Driven by his passion for community development, Mayor Hardy became involved in local government through his service on the Wilson’s Mills Planning Board. Guided by his faith and desire to serve others, he is dedicated to representing all residents, supporting the town’s progress, and helping Wilson’s Mills remain a thriving community for generations to come.
Beyond his public service, Mayor Hardy is a devoted family man who enjoys spending time with his wife, Hazel. He is the proud father of nine children, eight sons and one daughter, and five of his sons served in the military. He enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, particularly visiting local parks. As mayor, his vision is to see Wilson’s Mills continue to grow and prosper while ensuring that every resident has the opportunity to share in the town’s success.

Mr. Triplett's ongoing service reflects a deep-rooted passion for Wilson’s Mills and a genuine desire to help the town thrive for generations to come.

Through his business, Tim has earned a reputation for reliable service and hands-on leadership in Wilson’s Mills and the surrounding area. His diverse background and ongoing service reflect a deep dedication to the town’s growth, safety, and well-being.

Councilmember Carolyn Dobbin was elected in 2019 and is currently serving her second four-year term as Councilmember and the liaison for the Planning Department. She is the daughter of the late George & Nora Whitley of Wilson's Mills. She was raised in Wilson's Mills and is a graduate of Smithfield-Selma Senior High School. She then went on to complete two years at Johnston Community College.
Ms. Dobbin worked for the Office of State Personnel in Raleigh before retiring in 2014. Prior to being elected Town Councilmember, she also served on the Wilson's Mills Planning Board. Ms. Dobbin hopes to use her time as a Councilmember to prioritize police safety, community appearance and continued growth, and activities and recreational opportunities for the people of Wilson's Mills.

David McGowan is a married father of two with four grandchildren. He holds a B.S. degree in Aviation with a minor in Management. Mr. McGowan's career highlights include having been a U.S. Army Captain and aviator flying combat in Vietnam from 1969-1970, a Baltimore City Police Detective, and 14 years as the Public Address Announcer for the Baltimore Orioles Baseball Club at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland.

Doris Riley has been a resident of Wilson’s Mills for five years and is deeply committed to serving the community she calls home. Since moving to town, she has been actively involved in local initiatives, including three years of service on the Wilson’s Mills Planning Board and two years with the Community Outreach Resource Team at Wilson’s Mills Advent Christian Church. Doris has a passion for helping others and looks forward to continuing her service to the town’s residents as a member of the Town Council.
