2025 Wilson's Mills "Summer Berry Pie" Baking Contest
This contest will take place at our upcoming Community Day event on Saturday, August 23, 2025. The event runs from 10:00am-3:00pm, but the judging for the contest will take place from 11:30am-12:30pm.
There are two age categories: "Ages 12-17" and "18 & Over". The winner of each category receives a blue ribbon and bragging rights. An honorable mention ribbon will also be awarded in each category.
There is no fee to enter this contest. Deadline to register is Friday, August 15, 2025.
CONTEST DETAILS
- Pies must be homemade (not store-bought), must include a bottom crust and a top crust (full coverage or lattice work), and must only use berries for the fruit filing. You can use a combination of berries, but may not add other types of fruit.
- All pies must be accompanied by a 3x5 card with your name, the recipe name, list of ingredients, and list of all common food allergens (i.e., "This pie contains nuts, soy, etc.").
- Pies should be submitted at room temperature and dropped off at the town booth on the day of the event no later than 10:30am. Bakers will be assigned a number at the time of drop-off. Submissions after 11:00am will not be judged. Bakers must be present for judging and awards.
- Pies will be judged by a panel of three judges and will be judged on crust (20 points), filling (20 points), flavor/taste (50 points), and overall appearance (10 points).
- The winners will be announced sometime between 12:15-12:30pm during the Community Day event.
CONTEST RULES
- The entrant must be the baker.
- Only amateur bakers may participate. Professional bakers may not compete.
- Baker must be a resident of Wilson's Mills.
- Only one pie entry per person allowed.
- All pies must be in a 9-inch pie plate/pan.
- Non-edible materials are not permitted.
